How to order your stone 1. Have your dimensions and plans ready Disclaimer in relation to natural stone variation Please note that natural stone is subject to colour, texture and physical variations. This is part of its charm. It is produced by nature over millions of years and comes out of the ground, not a production line. The colours of the sample stones on this website, whilst indicative, cannot be taken as exact matches of any stone supplied. A stone seen on a website does not necessarily resemble how it will appear in natural light. Stone produced from a quarry will vary over time as new seams of stone are quarried and hence the stone will vary in colour, texture and physical characteristics. Exact matches of stone are therefore very difficult and sometimes impossible to achieve. However, if enough stone is ordered from a given block, the tiles or slabs from that batch, will generally match well, although within a slab or a batch of tiles from a block, that block itself is subject to some variation. The skill of an experienced stone mason or tiler is to fit the natural variations in the stone in a sympathetic way so that a best match or consistency of appearance is achieved. Employing a tiler without natural stone experience can lead to problems if the tiler, used to uniform ceramic tiles, does not lay them sympathetically to achieve the most consistent finish. Please, therefore, bear in mind when ordering tiles to order enough for waste quantity. If more tiles are required after a batch is sold out, it is sometimes impossible to achieve an exact match. The same warning applies to slab work. Enough waste quantity needs to be ordered. |
